PWI’s Rapid Growth

PWI, has continued to grow in a very rapid pace over the past 5 years of business. We are very excited to announce further growth of our company.

In the past 5 years we have erected, and are broadcasting off of 7 towers, in the Grove, Jay, Bernice, Fairland, and Afton areas. We are also broadcasting off of 13 other towers that help us cover Monkey Island, Governor’s Retreat, Elk River, Boy Scout Camp, Ponderosa, Ice Box Bluff, Honey Creek, Dodge, Hickory Meadows, Holiday Shores, and many other locations surrounding Grove. We do not plan on stopping our build out. We are dedicated on bringing high-speed internet to all rural areas. Our focus this next year is the Zena, Drowning Creek, Big Hollow area.

Since May of 2006 we have had to increase our bandwidth 5 times because of the growth of our company. In January of 2008 our backbone went from copper to fiber which helped with speed, and latency times. We are now excited to announce our 6th upgrade, and a 2nd DS3 fiber line. This fiber line will double our capacity, and will also help bring redundancy to our network. We will be installing the fiber line at another tower location, south of Honey Creek Bridge. This will enable us to separate our network, and help when lightning strikes our main tower. The new fiber line should be completed as early as May 2011.

Last but no least we are in the middle of transitioning all of our older Trango equipment out to the new technology. Motorola has brought to the table a new GPS Canopy system that we are installing on all of our towers, and at the customer’s residence or business. This system helps with timing of the Access Points on the tower and the Subscriber Units at the ending point. This also helps in the dreaded frequency problems that we have occurred in the past. We have changed over 1,000 customers to the new technology starting 18 months ago.

As you can see we are not just sitting around the table. These past 5 years have been covered in growth projects and growing pains, but we have handled them very well as they arrive at the front door. We would also like to take a moment to thank our customers for making us what we are today. Without you we would not be able to bring our wireless technology to you. We are taking as many strides possible toward keeping PWI the customer voted #1 Internet Service Provider of Grand Lake.
